NX Quick Tip - Customizing radial toolbars

Three customizable radial toolbars are available in each NX application.

• When you hold the Ctrl and Shift keys and click a mouse button, the radial toolbar associated with that button appears.

• You can include up to eight commands on each customizable radial toolbar.

Customizable radial toolbar

Radial toolbars are designed to contain different commands for different applications. To use the same command in the same radial toolbar across applications you must place that command in the radial toolbar for each application.

Radial toolbars can be customized in NX applications only when you open or create a part. The No Part application does not support customizable radial toolbars.

Modify radial toolbars

Note: To be able to customize radial toolbars, the Allow Menu Bar Customization check box must be selected in the Customer Defaults.

This is located here: File tab→ UtilitiesCustomer DefaultsGatewayUser InterfaceLayout tab.

1. Make sure you are in the application for the radial toolbar you want to modify.

2. Right-click in the ribbon bar area and select Customize.

3. In the Customize dialog box, click Shortcuts.

4. Specify which mouse button is to be customized.

o To modify a radial toolbar for the left mouse button, select Application Radial 1.

o To modify a radial toolbar for the middle mouse button, select Application Radial 2.

o To modify a radial toolbar for the right mouse button, select Application Radial 3.

For this example, Application Radial 1 is selected.

The radial toolbar mapped to the left mouse button appears.

5. In the Customize dialog box, click the Commands tab.

6. In the Categories list, expand the Menu node, and then expand the Edit node.

7. Under Edit, select Show and Hide to display a list of show and hide commands in the Items box.

8. From the Items list, drag and drop the Hide command onto the upper left corner of the radial toolbar.

The Hide command bitmap appears in the radial toolbar.

9. (Optional) You can continue to drag and drop up to seven additional commands onto the radial toolbar. However, it is not necessary to fill the toolbar completely.

Tip: You can also add a command to a radial toolbar from any standard toolbar, or from another radial toolbar, in a similar manner.

10. (Optional) To remove a command, drag it off the radial toolbar.

11. When you finish adding commands, in the Customize dialog box, click Close.

12. Hold Ctrl+Shift and click the left, middle, or right mouse button to display the customized radial toolbar.

Note: If you add an item in a radial toolbar in one application, that item does not appear on the same radial toolbar in other applications. To create a uniform radial toolbar across multiple applications, you must add the items in each application separately.
