Starting with the release of Solid Edge 2025 on October 2024, Siemens DISW will no longer offer standalone licenses for Home and Travel Use. This change impacts customers on all versions of Solid Edge who previously relied on these licenses for offsite software use.

Solution

To continue using Solid Edge offsite after the discontinuation of Home and Travel Use licenses, customers should consider the following options based on their current licensing model:

1. For Customers with Floating Licenses:

• License Borrowing: Borrow a license from the company’s license server for offsite use.

• VPN Connection: Connect to the company network via VPN and check out a license.

‍

2. For Customers with Node-Locked Licenses:

• Remote Desktop Access: Use a VPN connection to access the company network and connect to a remote machine where Solid Edge is installed.

3. Alternative Licensing Options:

• Solid Edge X: Consider migrating to Solid Edge X, which utilizes new Cloud licensing technologies from Siemens for flexible and remote usage.
