Solid Edge Quick Tip - How to insert a feature
In the Ordered paradigm you may wish to insert a feature before existing features. This can be done using the GoTo command found on the PathFinder shortcut menu. The GoTo command rolls back the model to the selected feature. When you use the GoTo command to roll back the model, you can then construct a new feature at that point in the feature tree. After you have constructed the feature, you can select the last feature in the feature tree and use the GoTo command again to return the model to its completed state. To insert a feature, do the following:
1. Click the PathFinder tab.
2. In PathFinder, select the feature which you want to insert the new feature immediately after. In this example, I wish to add a round to my base feature before the thin wall feature. Therefore, I select the Protrusion feature.

3. RMB click on the feature and select the GoTo command from the shortcut menu.

• Notice that the PathFinder shows that the Thin-Wall and Lip features have been rolled back, and just the Protrusion is visible on the display screen.

4. Add the new feature to the model. In this example, I have added the round command. Notice the Round feature appears in the PathFinder directly after the Protrusion feature.

5. RMB click the name of the last disabled feature and select the GoTo command from the shortcut menu.

• Notice that Solid Edge has recomputed the rolled back features and that the Round feature was successfully inserted into the PathFinder before the Thin-Wall and Lip features.
